Mountain biking in freezing rain

This morning, the Venturing Crew went Mountain Biking. We had scheduled to go to Elizabeth Furnace, but the difficulty of the course, as discussed by others, and the distance, meant that we had to find somewhere shorter. Instead, we found Conway Robinson State Forest, a 10-15 minute drive from my house, and a much easier course. I wok up before 7:00 am to head out and check the trail conditions before we attempted to put all of us on the trail. They were marginal, but some trails were better than others. I figures we'd try to stick to the good trails. Unfortunately, I hadn't accounted for the day warming up. Instead of drying out, the frozen ground under the trails started melting. We got one loop in, and then they got bad. We did another mini loop that took us just as long, but was a terribly muddy mess. Unfortunately, we had to get through the mud to do it. It messed us all up, and I'm afraid we may have damaged the trail some, too.

Cute Picture of Our New Niece

This is our new niece-Mary Jane. Man, she's cute! I don't really have anything else to say except my level of balance has definitely decreased over the past few months! This lack of balance has been coming out it seems every time I play with Cocoa, the crazy dog.

Icy weather

From yesterday afternoon through now, we've been getting freezing rain. there's been about a quarter of an inch of accumulation, and everyone's freaking out. Tracy's commute home yesterday took about 2.5 hours. I took 50 minutes because I took the back roads. Also, my car's tires rock. They're the grippiest!

The freezing rain is supposed to convert to snow tonight, and wind is supposed to pick up, so we could get some major power outages from the iced-over trees hitting power lines. I saw several branches already brushing the lines on my drive in this morning. If I were Dominion Power or Verizon, I'd be worried.

The Only politics post I'll do

Don't quote me on that. This post could be long, okay? I had a really long post written up about my feelings regarding the Virginia primary tomorrow, but I'll cut to the chase:
As long as Romney was running, I was excited. For the first time, I was going to vote for someone I wanted to vote for. Now? I think I might still vote for Romney, just as a demonstration. Don't ask me about the general, though. There aren't candidates yet, so I don't care.

I'm in the single digits and counting!!

I am so excited to be in the single digits...8 weeks to go! I can't wait. My main wonder is: Is it the Scoresby or Manwarren feet and hair that's going to win? They are both pretty dominant genes in each family. I definitely want the Scoresby genes to win! (Manwarren's usually have boats for feet and I have never had straight hair. Oh, the blessings! :0) Anyways, I can't wait to meet her.

The girls in the ward threw a baby shower for me on Saturday. We got some really cute stuff. There is so many cute things out there. I'm love'n it. The shower was a lot of fun! I think Joe has a harder time expressing great enthusiasm for really cute girl clothes and baby items. When I showed him the things, he was more "Oh, that's nice. Can I get back to watching TV now?"Typical guy thing I guess.

Below are some pregnant pics. My dad and I were having a contest to see who looked more pregnant over Thanksgiving. I'm definitely smoking his bacon now!

We are got a new niece last week, Mary Jane Manwarren. She weighed 5lbs. 6 oz. and was about 20 inches long. Yes, she is a little tall for her age! Another Manwarren trait. She is really cute. I will post pics as soon as I'm able. Both baby and mother are doing awesome!!
