So Afton had a great birthday day. We started off with opening presents. She didn't quite get the opening gifts part, but enjoyed playing with the boxes. Eventually, she got that there were new toys in the room and loved playing with them. She especially loves the rocking chair Grandma Scoresby got her. Thanks Margaret!
We went to a young women's basketball game since I am still the coach. It was a lot of fun; Afton really enjoyed watching the game and tried to get on the court once in a while. Maybe basketball really is in her blood. We won by the way and remain undefeated 3 years running. Go team! We had a pizza party which Afton really enjoyed.Anything involving food, at least!
Margaret and I made her birthday cake. It turned out really cute, a little uneven but cute none the less. I didn't level it properly so there were big gaps in some of the edges, which caused them to start collapsing. Margaret had the brilliant idea to stick mini almond joy bars (the candy available at the moment) in the cracks and frost over it. It worked beautifully.
When trying to get Afton to blow out her candle, she was way more interested in drinking her sippy cup. I just want you to notice the amount of cake on her plate. She of course ate the whole thing. It really is a good thing she has a high metabolism! :0)
She totally enjoyed the cake. She started eating it daintily but decided that large fistfulls were much better. :0) Sorry, the video isn't the best but our batteries died so we couldn't download the other ones! Maybe Monday.
She is a total flirt-- with Toby, this cute little boy who is a little over a year and a half. Unfortunately we don't have any pics with him, but yesterday he gave her a kiss on the lips and Afton's face just lit up-she gave the biggest grin. It was really cute. Anyways, she stole one of his oreo cookies at the party tonight. It was pretty funny.
P.S. I'm still in 1st in the brackets for any of the Scoresby's and Franzens who missed that! Yay!! I really don't expect it to last long, so I gotta gloat while I can! :)

Happy birthday!
Today is Afton's 1st birthday. I intended to pre-write a post scheduled to publish as 1:30 AM, the time when Tracy told me, "Hey, we need to go to the hospital."
Anyway, here's the birthday girl!
She enjoyed all the attention from Mom while she was here this week, and we enjoyed having her here.
Also, it is most definitely spring here. According to The Weather Channel, it's only 48 degrees here, but it feels much warmer. The forecast high for tomorrow is 65 degrees. It was colder all week, though. I think Mom brought the weather from Wisconsin with her.
I made the most of the weather by planting a few flowers and mulching our front flowerbed, after I finished installing the lights and mirror we put in our "powder room".

Nerd Party
Friday night I hosted a group of friends for a game night, or as Tracy called it, a nerd party. That's because the game we played was the Star Wars role-playing game, and Tracy thinks role-playing is inherently nerdy.
(Actually, she thinks anything I do is nerdy. She's declared that the methods I pursue my hobbies make my practice of the nerdy.)
My perception of the game may be a bit different than the other players, since I ran the game, but I thought it went really well. I think the game system is pretty good, and the game flowed really well, especially considering we had several players who were completely new to this, who had never played a tabletop RPG before.

Snow storm (belated)
This post is about a storm that's already ancient history, but I figure we just washed the road salt off our cars, so I can still post about it. Besides, it has pictures of Afton in the snow!
This storm hit Sunday evening over to Monday. All I got out of it was a half-day off of work. I did get some good pictures though, and Tracy got to have fun with Afton in snow.
I took Cocoa to a local state forest where she got to tramp around in the snow, and follow bunny tracks, as well as meet a big ol' grizzled German Shepherd who lost one of his legs. his owner said it was the first time he had been out since he lost the leg. He was about twice as big as Cocoa!
The storm also illustrated a few issues with the house: The gutter has come loose on one end, and need to be fixed. the icicles are NOT a good thing. Unfortunately, I don't have a 20 foot tall ladder to fix it with, and I don't want to pay the necessary 200 dollars for one.
