Apparently, there are some side effects to being raised in Ohio, such as an unhealthy focus on college football for 4 months in the fall of every year.
This fall is the first time that people out here in the East can watch BYU's football games on "the Mtn.", the Mountain West Conference's own TV network. So, today we're having a big party to celebrate the game and watch it on our TV. I'll post some pictures to demonstrate the crowd when the game starts.
The menu for our tailgate party? I'm glad you asked: Buffalo and BBQ wings, tortillas with every dip you can imagine, I'm making a veggie tray for those who don't want cholesterol, and maybe some other options, too.
Maybe if we're lucky we'll see Janet in the end zone seating!

Joe's Birthday
So I totally got Joe for his birthday this year. One of the girls in our ward has the same birthday so I had gotten together with her husband to plan a surprise birthday dinner at Logan's the Monday before. This is the first time since we have been married that Joe was totally in the dark. It was awesome. Thankfully, we had a bad morning, which gave me the perfect excuse to go out that evening to offset the horrible morning. ( Our car was towed because our tags were expired, which we were unaware of at the time. Virginia really is a stupid state, but that's another story.) So not only did I have the perfect excuse, I even got him to go to a steakhouse where I don't get a 50% discount without suspecting anything. I told him I was craving their bread and he of course bought it! It was so awesome. We had a good night and was able to have a fun evening with most of our good friends.
Afton was a cowgirl. I had bought this outfit because it made me laugh at a Thanksgiving sale for $2.00. It is the coolest outfit. Pics are below. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a cowboy or straw hat.

Peaches!
I know this is old news for a few of you (Mom), but a few weeks ago, we canned. Peaches, specifically. I went to the farmers market, got a peck of peaches (for like, 13 dollars!), and that night we canned them, after we spent the day running around getting the supplies to can them.
Pictures?
Yeah.
We only got 5 pints, and we saved a few for a peach cobbler that we never got around to making, but it was still a fun activity to do together during a time when we've been busy with stuff that we're doing alone.
Mom? what your expert opinion on our job?
Just stuff
I didn't realize its been so long since I have posted anything. So here it goes.
Working at Outback isn't so bad. Serving is all coming back to me now, like riding a bike. I only work 3 nights a week so I can't beat the schedule. The only weird part is they really want you to wear your flair. I can't help but think of Office Space and groan, but what can you do. It's also nice to get out of the house more often and have adult conversations. Some days it is so hard to leave but its hard emotionally staying home all day. There are a lot of stay at home moms that I'm friends with who I can hang out with, but it still seems just as hard to pick up the phone and schedule something. Oh well, it gets better. Primary is going crazy. I'm not so good at keeping my class quiet, but no one's perfect. We also canned peaches for the first time (at least my first time) together last week. It was really a lot of fun. We are going to try our hand at more canning.
Afton is growing quickly. She really likes to talk. I can never get it on camera b/c she stops as soon as she sees the camera. She gets too much interested in the things around her. She is such a funny baby. She likes to take the spoon and feed herself when she eats solids. Its really cute. She now weighs 13.1 pounds so she's definitely a heifer! :) She moves around a lot. She's really good at scooting backwards. She is all the way on formula now. Its really nice not to have to pump anymore. We're hoping that this new kind of Enfamil will help with the spit up. We just started her on it last night so we shall see. The only thing that stinks is that they don't have it at Costco, whichmakes it about $5.00 cheaper per can. She goes through formula like no other. We also got her pics taken and will be sending them to the fam soon so be on the lookout!
Cocoa is way more interested in Afton now that she's been spitting up more and eating solid foods. Its pretty gross. She especially likes the spit up. Sick, sick dog!

New Blog
Big News for everyone!
I've started a second blog, specifically for technical conversations that most of my readers here don't care about. All the stuff that everyone who reads this groans over, I'll put into that one, so you don't have to be burdened by its presence. Yeah!
